Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following competencies:
- The intellectual ability to deal with a complex regulatory regime. Education to post graduate level is highly desirable.
- Experience of developing policy at a high level.
- A track record of strong management and financial skills to make the most of resources;
- A track record of delivery in regulation.
- Excellent analytical skills and strategic vision.
- An awareness of consumer interests in the field of legal services;
- Commercial acumen.
- Excellent oral and written skills;
- Good political skills and the experience to command the confidence of the BSB and its stakeholders, including the Bar, consumers of barristers’ services, politicians and the senior judiciary;
- The ability to work closely with others in the team whilst ensuring that the independence of regulation is preserved.
- Regulatory experience and a good understanding of legal services or a legal qualification will be essential.
